Welcome to Cedar Branch Farm
Cedar Branch Farm is located in the Westlake area of Franklin County, Virginia just a stone's throw from beautiful Smith Mountain Lake. The current property on which the farm is located has been in the family for several generations. During the early years, the farm consisted of a commercial herd of cows owned by Tim's grandparents, parents, and an uncle and aunt. Clover, alfalfa, orchard grass, and fescue hay was grown on the family farm as well as annual tobacco crops.
Tim grew up on the family farm and was always out working with the various animals on the farm. His love of animals continued to grow, and he purchased his first Registered Red Angus cow, "Mooreland Sand 342", in 1991. A farm name was now needed for Tim's membership in the Red Angus Association of America. Since the farm was endowed by several natural branches that provided running water throughout the farm and an over abundance of cedars, the name Cedar Branch Farm was selected. Over the next several years, Tim added several additional Registered Angus and Registered Red Angus cows and bulls to improve the herd genetics.
The current herd consists of Registered Angus cows representing the following cow families: Beauty, Epic Eileen, Eppionia, Evergreen, Miss Copland (sometimes seen as Copeland), Miss Wix, Morning Call, Pernicky, Pride, Queen L, Queenie, Trojan Erica, and Zara. The farm is still run and operated by multiple generations of Overstreets who are retired, hold other full-time jobs, or are in school.
Please contact us to talk cows, or to schedule a visit, when you have time.
